Notes based on memoryOS, an app that teaches how to memorize. I highly recommend checking out this app.
First, make connections
- Connect an abstract concept to a visualizable object (eg a country to what this country is famous for, eg 🍁 for Canada, ⚽️ for Brazil)
- A number can be converted to an object
- For a long word, or the name of a person or unfamiliar country, connect it with something that sounds similarly, or connect parts of the words with something that sounds similarly
Next, as we have a list of objects, link them together with one of these:
- A story
- Make a story to connect the objects together
- A linked list
- Similar to story, but just focus on one object and the next object. The story (or just a visualizable scene) between object 2 and 3 doesn’t need anything to do with the story between object 1 and 2.
- A number based peg list
- Give each number an object. Connect each object with an object for a number with a small story/scene.
- A memory palace 🏛️
- Choose a room (or a street, a virtual space etc) that you are very familiar with. Go through each notable locations in the room in a specific order, place each object into each location (picture a small story when connecting the object and the location).
- For numbers, use a grouping system
- First group numbers in pairs. Each two numbers become a word
- PAO
To make the memory last, used spaced repetition
Some tips:
- allow stories to be very far fetched and ridiculous
